What the service covers

One Car Collection Service for Purchases, Sales, Auctions & Relocations

Car collection is not one fixed type of job. The right movement method depends on the vehicle, where it is being collected, its MOT and roadworthiness, the delivery address, timing and whether adding mileage is acceptable.

Why driven collection works

Collected, Inspected and Driven to the Destination

Around 95% of Rapid Vehicle Delivery movements are driven. For a suitable roadworthy vehicle, driven collection can be a direct way to move one vehicle from one address to another without waiting for a transporter route to be assembled around several other cars.

Before a driven movement starts, the vehicle is inspected and its condition is recorded. That gives a clear record of the vehicle at collection and supports a transparent handover at delivery.

Rapid Vehicle Delivery is run by Darryl Bosworth, who has 15 years of experience in vehicle inspection and delivery. Driven movements have comprehensive insurance cover up to £60,000.

If a vehicle is not suitable to drive, we do not force it into the driven-delivery process. Non-runners, no-MOT vehicles and some mileage-sensitive or higher-value vehicles can be considered for transported delivery through established partners.

Trade plates have specific legal uses and conditions. See the official GOV.UK trade licence plate guidance.

How collection works

Car Pick Up and Delivery in Four Clear Steps

For straightforward driven collections, the process is deliberately simple. More unusual movements can be checked manually before a price or date is confirmed.

Step 01

Price the route

Use the calculator for a standard movement or send the details if the vehicle needs a manual assessment.

Step 02

Confirm vehicle details

Collection and delivery postcodes, vehicle type, registration, dates, MOT and roadworthiness help confirm the correct method.

Step 03

Inspect & collect

The vehicle is checked at collection and its condition is recorded before a driven movement begins.

Step 04

Deliver & hand over

The vehicle is taken to the agreed destination and the handover completes the movement.

Before collection day

What We Need to Quote and Collect the Vehicle Correctly

Complete information at the start prevents the wrong movement method being priced. If anything is uncertain, tell us before booking so it can be checked rather than discovered at collection.

For MOT status, you can also check the vehicle using the official GOV.UK MOT checker.

Choosing the right movement method

Driven Car Collection vs Transported Delivery

Not every vehicle should be driven. The key is choosing a method that matches the vehicle's legal and mechanical condition rather than using the same process for every job.

Get a Route-Specific Car Collection & Delivery Price

The final price depends on the route, vehicle type and movement method. For a standard roadworthy car that can be driven, the online calculator is the quickest way to get a route-specific figure.

If the car is a non-runner, has no valid MOT, is mileage-sensitive or otherwise needs transported delivery, use the quote form instead so the job can be assessed properly.

For repeat dealer, trader or fleet work, contact us directly because regular multi-vehicle movements may be priced differently to a one-off consumer job.

If you searched for a car collection service near me, car pick up service, car pickup services or vehicle pickup, the important question is whether we can cover your collection-to-delivery route and dates.

Rapid Vehicle Delivery is based in the East Midlands and operates across mainland UK. You do not need to be close to our base for the service to be relevant: the job is planned around the route between the collection and delivery addresses.

You do not need to be near our base. What matters is whether the route between your collection and delivery postcodes works with our schedule — which is why we quote on the route, not on your postcode.

Car collection FAQs

Before You Book a Collection

These are the details that most often determine whether the job can be driven or needs a transporter.

Can you collect a car I have bought from a dealership?

Yes. Dealer purchases are a common type of vehicle movement. Provide the collection postcode, delivery postcode, vehicle details and timing requirements so the route and movement method can be confirmed.

Can you collect a car from a private seller?

Yes. Private-sale vehicles can be collected and delivered where the vehicle is suitable for the agreed movement method and the collection and handover arrangements are clear.

Is this the same as a car pickup service?

Yes. People use terms such as car collection service, car pick up service, car pickup service and vehicle pickup for the same basic need: collecting a vehicle from one address and delivering it to another.

Do you drive the vehicle or put it on a transporter?

Around 95% of Rapid Vehicle Delivery work is driven. Suitable roadworthy vehicles are normally collected and driven on trade plates. Non-runners, no-MOT vehicles and some mileage-sensitive vehicles may need transported delivery instead.

Can you collect a vehicle without an MOT?

A vehicle without a valid MOT generally cannot be used on public roads unless a specific legal exception applies. Tell us before booking so the correct movement method can be considered rather than assuming the vehicle can be driven.

Is the vehicle insured while it is being driven?

Driven deliveries have comprehensive insurance cover up to £60,000. For unusual or higher-value vehicles, confirm the details before the movement is booked.

How much does car collection and delivery cost?

Standard driven car movements start from £70 + VAT (£84 inc. VAT), with the final figure depending on distance and the job details. Use the vehicle delivery cost calculator for a route-specific standard price.

What information do you need from me?

The collection and delivery postcodes, vehicle registration and type, preferred dates, roadworthiness, MOT status and collection contact are the main details. For anything unusual, use the quote form so the correct movement method can be confirmed.

Do you cover my area?

The service covers mainland UK from an East Midlands base. See Areas We Cover for the wider coverage structure and important locations.

Can you collect several vehicles for a dealer or fleet?

Yes. Rapid Vehicle Delivery handles single movements and multiple movements for trade, dealer and fleet customers. For repeat work, contact us directly so the schedule and commercial requirements can be discussed.
